    Terence Vincent Powderly (Janu – J ) was an American labor union leader, politician and attorney, best known as head of the Knights of Labor in the late s. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, he was later elected mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, for three 2-year terms, starting in A Republican, he served as the United States Commissioner General of Immigration Born: Janu , Carbondale, Pennsylvania, U.S. From until his death on J , he was the Commissioner of Conciliation in the Department of Labor.
